Vehicle Body Design
In the early vehicles were created, only serves as a vehicle body where the passenger to be protected from the heat and rain, so a simple shape. Because the motor is affected by technological developments and trends that increasingly advanced, the design of the vehicle began to be noticed. In the automobile manufacturing industry, the design of a product designed by more experts from various disciplines.
In designing the vehicle, the development of science from engineering drawings very quickly. From technical drawings manually (figure 1.7) transformed into engineering drawings with a computer design (eg Auto CAD). Even the design has been created can be simulated when in fact, both of form, color, body structure and aerodinamikanya. With computer technology, this causes the process of designing the vehicle body will be faster and the results will be maximized.
Once drawn, then the vehicle will be made of mass, then built prototype. The prototype was originally made of wood, then evolved made of wax (wax) and clay (clay, clay) are relatively easily formed.
A measure of the prototype can be made with the actual size, or also can be made to the scale (usually minimized). During a prototype, the required accuracy to obtain the best possible outcome, even in every small corner of the vehicle.
There are three important components in the design of vehicle body, namely:
- exterior design,
- interior design, and
- color and trim design
Interior designers responsible for developing body parts in a vehicle such as seats, room, dashboard, trim, and so forth. The design must meet the ergonomic aspects,
aesthetics and comfort of passengers. As with the exterior, the interior also created a prototype first. In this way, it is expected that vehicles will be made later to meet the previous draft, and could try to be felt. Here are technicians who are making the interior design.
While the color and trim designer responsible for researching, designing and developing color and material used in exterior and interior of the vehicle. This includes paint and paint and materials used such as plastics, rubber, vinyl, leather, headliner, carpet, fiberglass and others. Third designer team should work together to create a compact vehicle.
